There are no Welsh Regiment journal for the period the WW1.

We hold the war diaries for all the Welsh Regiment battalions which saw active service here in the Brecon.  There are copies at The National Archives, Kew.  They are not yet available on line.  As far as I have been able to tell Thomas F Murphy is not mentioned by name.  The following is the only information I have been able to find:

Murphy,T.F: 12th (Reserve) Battalion. & 11th (Cardiff Pals) (Service) Battalion The Welsh Regiment:

Temporary 2nd Lieutenant: 10.4.15. 11th Bn.

Temporary 2nd Lieutenant: 26.1.18:

Lieutenant: 31.7.20:

relinquished his commission on completion of service, 1.9.21.and retained the rank of Lieutenant. Listed in 1927 Army List Supplement as Lieutenant. Royal Army Reserve of Officers (Class II Reserve). July 1915

Army List states 12th Battalion.

Summary of Service of 11th Battalion: September 1914 Formed at Cardiff – as K3 battalion - South Downs in 67th Brigade part of 22nd Division. December 1914 Hastings.  April 1915: Seaford, Sussex.  May 1915: Aldershot, Hampshire.  6 September 1915: landed at Boulogne.  30th October 1915: sailed from Marseilles for Salonika arriving 8th November 1915.  30th September 1918: North West of Lake Doiran, Macedonia in 67th Brigade part of 22nd Division.

The 12th Battalion was a Reserve unit which did not see overseas service.

Sorry we cannot offer you anything more positive.

Best wishes
